When you're Matthew Dellavedova, international superstar, Steph Curry agitator and noted coffee king, the only thing less surprising than receiving your own signature shoe is that it didn't happen sooner.
So when The Vertical's Nick DePaula confirmed that Delly would be jettisoning Nike to sign a three-year deal with Chinese brand Peak and receive his own signature sneaker line, you could hear all of Cleveland let out a collective "About time, yo!"
The Delly 1 is set to make its long-awaited debut on July 1st, and Nike, much like it did with Curry, will rue the day it let Matthew Dellavedova wriggle out of its grasp. And regardless of how it looks, it will certainly be better than Klay Thompson's signature kicks from fellow Chinese brand Anta, which is trash.
It's 2016. A woman could soon be President, and Matthew Dellavedova has his own shoe. What a time to be alive, indeed.
