Ice Cube, the former member of NWA and star of Oscar-worthy films such as "Friday," "Next Friday" and "Friday After Next," may have momentarily turned into an NBA insider on Wednesday afternoon.
In New York City to promote the BIG3, the 3-on-3 basketball league set to debut later this month in Brooklyn, Cube, the league's founder, was asked by TMZ which team he thought had the best chance of taking home the crown. That's when he let this slip:
"It was Killer 3s for a minute, but since Chauncey took that job it might change," Cube said. The Killer 3s were set to be captained by former Detroit Pistons great Chauncey Billups, who has reportedly already met twice with Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert and is rumored to be the front runner for the Cavs' suddenly vacant GM position. The way Cube spoke, it sure sounds like Billups has already accepted the job.
Now Ice Cube could just be speculating, or simply have misspoke. But if Billups is announced as the Cavs GM or team president sometime in the neat future, we might have to start calling Ice Cube "Young Adrian Wojnarowski."
